As a young college student looking at career options, Kia focused only on jobs that offered the three things that she wanted the most: high earning potential, camaraderie, and flexibility. These three things led her to a sales career with Family Heritage after she graduated.
Ultimately, Kia made her decision to work at Family Heritage mainly for the ability to live anywhere in the country and move herself and her business whenever and wherever she wanted to go. By the end of her first full year, she had earned just over $100,000 in personal income, sold policies in 5 different states, moved her business from Iowa to Colorado, and built a 4-person sales team of her own. One of the things she's the most proud of is the point in her career at which she was able to purchase a home for her parents and 7 younger siblings.
One added bonus of her career is that she met her husband at a national Family Heritage sales meeting. Someone once told her, "Work on being the best you and God will help your soulmate find you." She worked hard, set goals, achieved them, and 7 years later, she wound up sitting next to Rob Alkema at a leadership meeting. The rest, as they say, is history!
